With OTT systems turning into a mainstay inside the put-up-pandemic world, the crew behind the approaching series ‘Kolongpar’ is looking to tap into this craze by way of bringing the ‘gangster’ genre to Assam.

This gritty crime drama, which will be available on the brand new platform CnD Play from August 28, is set inside the fictional Assamese district of ‘Kolongpar’, a deep, dark manifestation of Assam’s criminal underbelly. Drawing comparisons to the cult classic ‘Mirzapur’, the 8 episodes of this Narendra N Sinha-produced show might be available for a one-time fee of Rs 39.

Explaining the concept at the back of the show, writer-director Mrinmoy Saikia, 30, says that "although the name of the district is fictional, the occasions are very much based on real-world events."

"In the ultimate four-five years, we have seen loads of political upheaval within the nation. The frustration among students in semi-urban cities is palpable. It is ordinarily due to the fact that mother and father are forcing the children to absorb professions that might be considered safe - consisting of scientific and engineering. Anything out of the box, like images, is scoffed at. This, in turn, could cause frustration and even drug abuse among youths," Saikia says matter-of-factly to India Today NE.

In his Kolongpar, Saikia says, war starts whilst a newly-elected Chief Minister declares a struggle on capsules.

"The occasions inside the tale are emblematic of what occurs in the actual international. Privileged and underprivileged humans, both are the victims. The warfare between the nearby administration and the nearby criminals forms the crux of the story," he says.

Responding to comparisons to ‘Mirzapur’, Saikia says that "it's far a known reality that Assam has cartels strolling prepared crime."

"Although some people have commented that the type of violence we have shown in our display isn't always visible in Assam, I need to invite them: If there is no mafia in Assam, is God organizing the crime community? I have carried out my own research and violent crime businesses can be discovered in several districts of Assam," he avers.

Actor Kamal Lochan Das who assays the lead position, says that Assamese audiences can assume "something precise" from this display because it has been made with an "updated" attitude.

"The team at the back of this project is young and energetic, which shows. Their mindset (of the group) could be very updated and the show is not run-of-the-mill. The target audience can anticipate something precise from this show," Lochan says, including that he became capable of supplying a hundred and ten%’ due to his "proper rapport" with the director Saikia.



Actress Stuti Choudhury believes that the show may be a rage amongst children due to the fact ‘it has a variety of motion.’


"However", she provides, "the show has a sprinkling of numerous other factors which include drama, romance, etc."
